Trinity Washington University invites applications for a 12-month non-tenured faculty position responsible for oversight of Trinity's B.A. Program in Journalism and Media Studies (JAMS) in the School of Professional Studies (SPS). We seek individuals who are student-oriented with expertise and a professional track record in journalism and media studies and communications.

The successful candidate is an academic leader with the expertise required to teach courses in the major, manage the curriculum, schedule and staff courses, and oversee faculty. Successful candidates will have a commitment to teaching and understand the theories, concepts, and techniques of multi-platform journalism and interactive storytelling. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a combination of story development, new narrative forms with special emphasis on social media and mobile platforms balancing practical instruction and experience teaching in Journalism, or in Media Studies, or Communication with ethical issues in journalism and storytelling. Applicants with expertise in digital media, web design, online communication and the use of new technologies in marketing or political campaigns will have an advantage in this search.

Minimum qualifications: master’s degree in journalism, communication, public relations or related field; a record of professional experience in journalism, public relations or strategic communication. An earned doctorate in a relevant field is preferred. Outstanding communication skills, both orally and in writing, are essential, along with complete proficiency in the use of classroom technologies. The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in Journalism and Media Studies, which include fundamentals of journalism, media law, media ethics, advanced reporting and writing, broadcast news writing, social media marketing and gender, race and class in the media.
