The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) in Washington, D.C., is looking for you to help us promote philanthropy that is accountable, effective and responsive to the needs of marginalized communities.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day planning and execution of a nonprofit’s communications programming, such as writing blog posts, email marketing, design, social media, media outreach and more.
You’ll boost your project planning skills. You’ll learn more about the nonprofit and philanthropy sectors and how we are striving to move the needle for a more equitable society.
You will be mentored by the Senior Communications Associate.

Areas of Learning and Responsibilities
o Create monthly e-newsletters, announcements and email messages sent to our electronic mailing lists.
o Manage mailing lists.
o Track, update and analyze statistics.
o Track, update and analyze social media statistics.
o Draft social media images and posts.
o Update ncrp.org as needed for media mentions, new reports, monthly polls and other types of content.
o Track, update and analyze monthly website statistics.
o Assist in sourcing and publishing staff and guest blog posts.
o Write blog posts.
o Track media mentions.
o Create and maintain media lists.
o Update mailing lists and contact information.
o Manage automated workflows.
o Assist in recordkeeping and coordinating with communications vendors.
Required Skills and Experience:
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill and convey information clearly and concisely.
o Creative, with an eye for design, and skilled at using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
o Detail-oriented with a can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
o Excellent time management and organization skills, yet comfortable with priority changes.
o Has a passion for social justice.
o High level of professionalism and outstanding work ethic.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
o Recent college graduate or graduate student with a background in PR, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Graphic Design.
o Experience with Canva, Sprout Social and Google Analytics.
o Familiarity and/or working knowledge of relationship management databases like Salesforce.
o Experience with audio/video production and software like Adobe Premiere.
o Familiarity with Associated Press Stylebook.
o Experience with email marketing software and Wordpress.
o Working knowledge of HTML.
Hours: This is a 20 to 25 hour per week internship
