The Spina Bifida Association (SBA) is the nation’s only national voluntary health organization that focuses on enhancing the lives of those affected by Spina Bifida and preventing the birth defect in future generations. Spina Bifida occurs during fetal development, resulting in a gap or lesion on the spinal column. Although the gap can be closed or lesion removed, Spina Bifida is a lifelong condition that can result in mobility, neurological, bowel & bladder, and learning challenges. It’s the most commonly occurring, permanently disabling birth defect compatible with life. To learn more about us, please visit us at www.spinabifidaassociation.org About the Role: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is a non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications. This position is responsible for supporting the Director and Manager of Communications in executing the communications strategy and marketing plans for SBA. This individual works collaboratively across all SBA departments to ensure the Marketing & Communications (M&C) department supports organization-wide efforts. What you’ll do: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned Website & Social Media - Develops new content and works to update and maintain website. Writes and edits stories, creates new pages, including blog posts and news items, and solicit updates from other departments.
- Manages social media daily.
- Assists with writing eNewsletters, social media posts and other SBA assets that support the communities’ SBA serves.
- Works with the Manager of M&C to execute and track social media strategy and activity.
- Creates and provides metric dashboards for analysis and future planning.
General Marketing & Communications - Assists in writing content for organization-wide publications.
- Maintains SBA’s photo library, which includes organizing current photos, taking photos, and seeking pro bono photography.
- Develops video content for use on the website and in social media.
- Designs ads, flyers, banners, brochures, fact sheets, event signage, invitations, etc. as needed.
- Prepares key metrics from communication campaigns.
- Assists in analyzing and reporting impact of communications on organizational success.
Events - Assists with SBA events, including:
- Prepares promotional material.
- Organizes and directing events.
- Creates timelines.
- Executes marketing strategies.
- Works collaboratively with volunteers.
Public Relations - With the Director of Communications, develop public relations strategies.
- Writes press releases and send them to appropriate press outlets
- Maintains press list with accurate contact information.
- Alerts Director and Manger on daily news items.
General Office Work - Manages brand guidelines and helps to ensure all materials and in compliance with the SBA brand.
- Assists in organizing the M&C Department assets.
- Helps to keep internal staff informed.
- Creates PowerPoint, Prezi or other presentations as needed for fulfillment of SBA mission.
- Assists with the tracking of M&C budget.
Our Perfect Candidate Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Public Relations or Journalism
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience working in a marketing or communications position.
- Possess a solid understanding of effective marketing techniques
- Must have excellent writing and editing skills
