The Congressional Hunger Center  is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works to make issues of domestic and international hunger a priority to policymakers in the U.S. government, and to raise a new generation of leaders to fight against hunger and poverty.

We are currently accepting applications for the following internship positions (this list will be kept up-to-date to reflect open positions): 

  • Strategic Initiatives Intern — Intern will support the Policy and Strategic Initiatives Specialist with the planning process for the summer 2020 Zero Hunger Internship. The intern will help with the recruitment, selection, and planning for the summer training program. In addition, the intern will help scale Zero Hunger Academy. Tasks may be added or removed based on program needs.
  • International Program Intern — Intern will support Leland Program team with Mid-Field Training planning in Nairobi, Kenya, conduct research and analysis for various projects, and general programmatic work. Tasks may be added or removed based on program needs.
  • Domestic Program Intern — Intern will support Emerson Program team with Policy Training planning and implementation, scheduling Hill meetings for Emerson fellows, assisting with field site recruitment, providing communications support, and overall programmatic support. Tasks may be added or removed based on program needs.
  • Communications Intern — Intern will support Communications and Engagement Manager with researching, writing, editing, and proof-reading content for our website, creating social media messages, and assisting with marketing and promotion for the organization. Writing sample required in application. Please upload a 2-4 page sample reflective of your recent written work along with resume.
  • Fundraising Intern — Intern will support the development team with implementing its fundraising strategy for the organization. This role will involve assisting with fundraising outreach to the Hunger Center’s donor base, assisting in event planning logistics for the Hunger Center’s annual fundraiser, and drafting social media posts for the Hunger Center’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. Tasks may be added or removed based on program needs.

Internships with the Congressional Hunger Center are designed to align the talents of our interns with the needs of the organization. To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in college, community college, or a graduate program, or have graduated from one of the above programs no earlier than July 1st, 2019. Once an assignment is confirmed, an internship plan will be created. College credit may be available. 

Specific start and end dates and weekly schedule can be flexible to accommodate your course schedule, but all internships are expected to last no less than 125 hours over 10-14 weeks between the months of January and April. A stipend of up to $1,500.00 will be provided to each intern, payable at the start and end of the internship.
