Research Analyst

The Institute of International Finance is the global association of the financial industry, with more than 450 members from more than 70 countries. IIF members include commercial and investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, central banks and development banks.  

Position Description  

The Institute currently seeks a Research Analyst to focus on advanced dataset construction including web scraping and economic research. S/he will be responsible for collecting new datasets that require extensive coding and web scraping, conducting data analysis, and assisting with projects on emerging markets. S/he will also maintain country databases, ensure database consistency, address member's data needs, assist with the planning and implementation of events as well as prepare and contribute to drafts for special studies and presentations.  


Applicants should have a college degree in economics and at least two years related work experience such as coding, web scraping, producing economic forecasts, writing research reports, and interacting with clients or masters degree. Demonstrated experience with at least two scripting and programing language (e.g. Python, R, C++, SAS, Java) and experience with one database management (e.g. SQL and VBA). Advance experience with Microsoft Excel is essential. A strong command of the English language as well as excellent written and oral communication skills are also essential. Desirable: Foreign language skills, experience with Bloomberg, Haver and demonstrated experience in carrying out quantitative analysis using statistical programs (EViews, MatLab, RATS, Stata).
